To think of Spain

is to think of Andalucía!

Beautiful, sun-baked Andalucía, the southernmost province of Spain, the most quintessentially Spanish part of all Iberia, beloved of holidaymakers from across the world. Land of Moorish castles, matadors, olive groves, orange and almond blossom. Birthplace of flamenco and tapas. Rich with history and tradition, vibrant with the sound and colour of fiesta. A vast and incredibly diverse landscape, where snow-capped peaks loom over Europe’s only desert and forests of oak and pine give way to the golden costas.

Hidden away behind the beaches and sun loungers, high up in the cool mountain sierras, lies an exciting and hitherto undiscovered wine region.

About the wine

ANDA is a blend of Tempranillo and Syrah, made from grapes grown on mineral-rich ‘arcilloso’ soil, high up in the beautiful Laujar Valley in Andalucía, nestled between the mountain ranges of the Sierra Nevada and Sierra de Gádor. The grapes are picked by hand, during the cool of the early morning and as the sun fades at dusk.

The impressive altitude of the vines at 1000m above sea level results in cooler temperatures, moderate rainfall and nearly 3000 hours of sunlight per year, enabling us to create a wine of real freshness, complex yet easy drinking, with radiant colour, soft tannins and plenty of fruit.

ANDA is a medium bodied wine with expressive aromas of black cherry and damson, with hints of strawberry, violets and pepper. It has a youthful yet rich pallet, with vibrant flavours of cherry, cranberry and plums, and a bright, spicy finish with notes of eucalyptus, aniseed and cocoa.

History

Andalucía has a centuries-long history of winemaking, with studies suggesting that the first vineyards in the Iberian Peninsula were cultivated in Andalucía as far back as 4000 BC. Certainly over the past 3000 years winemaking has continued more or less uninterrupted in Andalucía, whether the region has been under Greek, Phoenician, Roman or Moorish rule. Today, Andalucía is a re-energised vinous region, where young Andalucían winemakers use state of the art equipment and the latest vinification techniques to create exciting, modern wines.

ANDA is a collaboration

between an Englishman and an Andalucían

Harry Hunt - Anda Wine

Harry Hunt gave up a career in London to fulfil his ambition to move into winemaking. After studying for a degree in Viticulture & Oenology at Plumpton College in the UK, Harry carried out vintages in Bordeaux, in the Northern and Southern Rhône valleys in France, and in Spain, always with the goal of making wine in Andalucía. He founded Bodegas Tierra Hermosa, a collaborative wine producer in 2010, and now creates a range of wines across the territory.

Nacho-Suarez - Anda Wine

Nacho Suarez, a talented and intuitive young Andalucían winemaker, has wine in the blood, having grown up helping his parents run their bodega in Almería, the eastern-most province in Andalucía. When not in the vineyards, he can be found holding court in fashionable nightspots along the Costa de Almería, as he is also an accomplished DJ.
